Living the dream.

My dream of dreams when I was a young girl was to be in movies, television. I wanted to be on the silverscreen or small screen so badly, but it just never happened. I think my mother just didn’t want to try. She was afraid of what might happen, maybe? Getting ripped off, not know what to do once we got there, etc. My dad’s best friend since childhood has a daughter who was in commercials when she was young, and I was eternally jealous of that. I wanted to do the same, but for some reason, the opportunity never fell in my lap. Ever.

But now, I’m making things happen, my way. Albeit, I have new obstacles (getting my Bachelor degree, a husband who feels similarly to how my mother felt when I was young, and an unnerving fear about being recognized by people from my past), but I’m pushing all that aside to accomplish this dream. But I thought I’d have to wait a few more years, at least. Guess I was wrong.

This isn’t anything huge, and like the director of the cast/crew I’m in said, it probably won’t launch me into anything worthwhile, but it’s a step in the right direction. It’s a step in the direction I’ve been leaning towards since youth! And funny, how I managed to find myself at this crossroad. For some odd reason, about a month ago, DH told his cousin one day at dinner that I was going to try my hand at acting.
“Really?”
“Yeah, crazy huh. I’ve wanted to do it forever now.”

The next weekend, he wanted to know if I wanted to act. The look on my face, the look of incredulousness and fear, was probably next to priceless. But he was serious. A project of completing a movie, pre-production to post, rolling to credits, in 48 hours. For a competition. The stakes? International recognition on the Independent Film Channel. We can even put our movie on IMDB. All I saw was an opportunity, my first foot in the door - networking, experience building, and most of all, something to put on my blank resume. Which got me thinking, I don’t have to wait 2 years to start this. I can start now. Work for free, in my spare time, act act act act act until I’m almost positive I’ll either be completely sick of it or inseparable from it.

So bring it on! I’m ready for this, I’ve been waiting for this since I was 10 years old. Will post photos, video, and links as soon as I get them, so keep your eyes out!

Oh hai!

WOW, how fast time can go by without updating when one lacks little to no time to think about time actually going by!

Did you get all that?

I actually updated once several weeks ago, but since changed the privacy of it due to feeling like a complete tool after I reread it. Yeah. Just a bunch of feeling-sorry-for-myself and being fickle. ANYWAY.

I am a Californian by birth - my dad grew up in Los Angeles, and we’ve lived here for 16 years now (and since we know I’m 23, and I can do math - 7 of those years were spent in Japan kthx). So can you believe that in all that time, I never once stepped foot in Mexico? I KNOW! Well, the spell finally broke and I can officially say that I’ve been there, done that. We went to Mexico, near Rosarito, for the beautiful wedding of a beautiful couple and it was. Amazing. Amazing food, fun Mexican music, TONS of dancing (not by me, of course…), OPEN BAR, and partying until 2 in da mornin. But the funnest part was the trip back across the border - 1 hour traffic and being greeted by vendors in the middle of the road. LOL. It was really horrifying, I just kept thinking about some little kid getting hit by a huge SUV while juggling for money.

We’re trying to plan another trip, this time to Cancun, but things are on hold for now considering the week break I thought we were getting in between this class and the next is not happening. So, I think DH is planning a trip to Anaheim for Blizzcon in October. At $100 a ticket and probably the need to stay over night/eat/stuff, we’re looking at easily a $1000 trip to a place an hour or two away. SO, yeah. But I’m STOKED, even though the possibility of me playing WoW or any other video game is nonexistant at this point. I missed Comic-Con at the convention center this year AGAIN, and I’m even more annoyed at the fact that there was absolutely no way I could go to the one day I wanted to (Thursday, for the Twilight movie panel/autographs) because of school. Only, there may be less screaming 12 y/o fangirls at Blizzcon (screaming 30 y/o otaku will still be there, however). Or, one can hope.

BTW, the lovely Teresa is giving away a cupcake scented gift set by Embrace Bath & Body, over at her personal blog. The contest is for USA and Canada only. GO GO GO! The contest ends tomorrow!

Until next time!

Happy Birthday, America.

Well, I hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Ours was fairly mellow and uneventful. I spent most of the morning sleeping (actually, recovering from getting 3 hours of sleep Thursday morning after spending most of the night awake), finished the main part of a baby blanket I was forced to put aside due to school while watching a What Not to Wear marathon on TLC; DH spent the morning on his computer, of course. We went to my parent’s house for dinner. And now, we’re here.

Like I said. Mellow.

So much has been going through my head lately that has made me realize: I’m really bored with my life. So much so that for the greater part of yesterday, I was scheming on the most successful way I could juggle both nursing school and a career as an actress (with absolutely no acting experience, no less). Yeah. I know.

I guess I’m not as busy as I originally thought. So no more idle thoughts for me. I’m going to work more now. No more being a baby about it. I would have enough time for school/studies AND work if I weren’t such an idiot and spend half the day doing absolutely nothing productive on the internet. So of course, studying will fill in the in between times, as well as play Good Housekeeping. Because truthfully, I’m tired of not having money. And even more so, I spent exactly 1 week not working since I told my manager I won’t be working. So yeah. Let’s just say that I’m fickle about 99.9 % of everything.

ANYWAY. So, since I’m in between classes and have been so graciously given a whole week off for the July 4th holiday, I’ve been doing pretty close to nothing except being completely lazy and, of course, working. I have become completely, totally, without a doubt obsessed with the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Considering I’m already a HUGE fan of any literature that’s fantasy or sci-fi in nature, this series is right up my alley. The books are amazing, and I’ve developed a huge crush on protagonist vampire - HAHA. Or is he the antagonist… I don’t know. Whatever literary element he is, I like it.

Anyway, if you haven’t already done so, do check it out!

As for the movie… I’m looking forward to it, but not really. I don’t know. I think the movie, from what I’ve seen of trailers and such, doesn’t follow the book (which is not surprising, but is disappointing). And Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen, looks NOTHING like I imagined Edward to look. He isn’t that good looking, in my opinion, but he looks stiking and beautiful in the movie. But still, nothing like I imagined. And Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan is even worse. But, whatever.
